Project description Fischbeker Reethen:
Over the next few years, IBA Hamburg will be developing a new residential and working quarter in the immediate vicinity of the Moorgürtel nature reserve. Fischbeker Reethen is a lively, urban and green district in the south-west of the Hanseatic city (map), where living close to nature and innovative working environments are possible side by side. The proximity to the Fischbek suburban railroad and various offers for daily life should help to ensure that the approximately 70-hectare district is developed with reduced car traffic and offers a good network for cyclists and pedestrians.
Overall, different typologies are being developed in the Fischbeker Reethen: predominantly multi-storey residential buildings, but also terraced houses and a few detached single-family houses. High demands are placed on design quality and social diversity. Around half of all residential units are to be built as publicly subsidized or affordable rental housing. There is also a new district school with a grammar school in the district. Social facilities such as day-care centers and sports facilities are also planned. (…)
