Each September, Pioneer Works selects residents through an open call.
Aided by a jury of experts and Alumni Residents, Pioneer Works welcomes residents who work outside existing models and ‘norms’ of their field and will benefit from the unique facilities and culture of the residency.
As such, Pioneer Works shifts and evolves to reflect the interests and work of each new cohort of residents, from public education offerings to Second Sundays, a monthly forum of artistic experimentation through activations, open studios, and performance.
All residents that complete the program join the ever-growing alumni network and are tapped for future opportunities like teaching, partnerships, and other public programs.
Music residencies are for one month and visual arts residencies are for five months.
Residents are required to be in the studios for 20-25 hours per week and to actively participate in a monthly Open Studios at Second Sundays.
Pioneer Works is currently unable to sponsor visas.
If accepted, residents will be responsible for securing their own visa arrangements.
The residency offers free studio space and a 2,000 USD honorarium for Visual Arts Residents and 1,000 USD honorarium for Music Residents.
Application deadline: September 30, 2024
