Symposium Künstlergut Prösitz

Call for applications for a one-month scholarship for sculpture, installation and object art

The Saxon artists’ house “Künstlergut Prösitz” invites applications for four-week participation in this unique European symposium from May to October each year. The scholarship is aimed at artists who work in sculpture, sculpture, installation and object art. All forms of experimental work within these art genres are also welcome.

The aim of the symposium is to enable professional female artists to create sculptures and installations during the four working weeks at the Künstlergut. A unique and special feature of the scholarship is that it is aimed at artists who are also mothers. The Prösitz Symposium allows them to bring their children with them. Childcare is provided for the children (maximum age 12 years) at the Prösitz artists’ estate during the four-week residency. This allows the women to devote themselves to their artistic work, exchange ideas with colleagues in the same life situation and network ideally.

The participants of the symposium will be selected by a jury on the basis of the submitted application documents. The decisive factor is the artistic quality of the work. The jury is made up of the previous year’s scholarship holders and a curator (art historian). This ensures that the jury remains independent and that the scholarship holders gain (further) jury experience through their participation. A large number of workshops are available: Clay and metal workshops, plaster room, spacious studio under the roof, barn, as well as the inner courtyard for larger outdoor works. The children are looked after on site by a childminder. A room with a small bathroom is available for each artist and her child/children.

The scholarship amounts to 500 euros. There are no costs for overnight accommodation or childcare. Various additional services (materials, organizational aids, etc.) will be provided individually. Afterwards, a joint exhibition of all scholarship holders will be organized. A joint catalog will be published for this exhibition.
