Simon Horn is showing an assemblage from 2020/21, which was created as part of the “Kultur ans Netz” scholarship – funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The artist from Halle describes how his works were created: “During a city walk, I laid out a route through the city of Halle and chose three stations. The atmospheric impressions I gathered along the way were captured in photographs as a memory aid. The spatial sculptures ‘True Building’, ‘Elysium’ and ‘Transition I’ emerged from a process of working in my studio. I intuitively decided on the proportions, colors and materiality of the works. When looking at buildings, objects or architecture, three factors in particular are important and can be compared with each other: We place what we directly experience in a context with what we know and remember, with past experiences and with historical aspects.”
