Lecture and panel discussion “Preserving cultural heritage. Architectural glass art yesterday – today – tomorrow” on September 10, 2024, 6 to 8 p.m.
In July 2024, the state capital of Magdeburg published “Painting with Light and Glass – Architectural Glass Art in and from Magdeburg”. The volume is the result of intensive research and is the first to show the great variety of glass design on buildings in public spaces: from the beginnings in the Middle Ages to works in the present day. One focus is on the period after 1945 and the work of the artists’ college once based here, the “Glasgestaltung Magdeburg”. Glass is delicate and fragile – and at risk during renovation, conversion and demolition. The state capital of Magdeburg is hosting a public event with the aim of sensitizing civil society and the administration to the current issue and highlighting possible ways of preserving and protecting it.
