BKV Prize 2025 for young arts and crafts

The BKV Prize for Young Arts and Crafts honors works that demonstrate outstanding artistic design based on quality craftsmanship. It consists of prize money for the three winners and a publication that the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein publishes in its publication series.

The award-winning works will be complemented by a selection of other competition entries and presented to a wide audience in an exhibition at the Galerie für Angewandte Kunst and next year at the International Crafts Fair.

Artisans who have not yet reached the age of 35 are eligible to participate. The submitted works must not be older than 2 years and must not have been awarded prizes in other competitions

Objectives: The Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein sees one of its main tasks in promoting the professional and artistic development of young craftspeople through financial support, publications and professional mentoring. The prize money and a publication are intended to give the winner the opportunity to further their professional career.

Criteria: This award recognizes work that demonstrates independent artistic design based on quality craftsmanship.

Objective: The competition is aimed specifically at young craftspeople who are at the beginning of their professional development but have already completed their training.

Prices:

  • 1st prize: € 3.000,- + catalog (German/English)
  • 2nd prize: € 2.000,- + catalog (German/English)
  • 3rd prize: € 1.000,- + catalog (German/English)
  • The three prize winners will receive a joint catalog (German/English).
  • All award winners are also honored with membership in the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein, which is granted free of charge for 3 years.
  • All works by the prize winners and finalists will be exhibited at the International Crafts Fair IHM, special show “Crafts & Design”, and at the Bayerischer Kunstgewerbeverein.

The tender is international and aimed at all trades.
