Call for BBK members: Industrial landscape photography

Dear members of the BBK Saxony-Anhalt,

As part of a research project on the visualization of industrial culture in the 20th century, we – the Institute for Regional History of the State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology – are looking for relevant photo collections. We are particularly interested in photographic images (of a documentary and/or artistic nature) that can be assigned to the theme of industrial landscapes. We are thinking here of the open-cast mining landscapes of the Central German mining district as well as industrial complexes and infrastructures that characterize landscape contexts and refer to extensive spatial use. In terms of time, we are particularly interested in the recent (landscape) transformation in the context of the political and economic upheaval of 1989/90, the evidence of accelerated deindustrialization and subsequent development.

If you are a photographer who has worked on the development of industrial landscapes in central Germany or the state of Saxony-Anhalt and have a collection of photographs, we would be delighted to hear from you.

With best regards,
Isabell Schmock-Wieczorek and Jan Kellershohn
