Call for proposals Program 2025 Art Pavilion & New Gallery

Chronopolitical explorations

With the annual theme Chronopolitical Explorations, the Künstler:innen Vereinigung Tirol 2025 is dedicated to the assumption that narratives and developments are influenced by social, political and economic (power) structures. Depending on the location of an individual or a group, these developments take different courses and therefore cannot be subjected to a linear narrative.

The curatorial concept behind the 2025 annual program is dedicated to the relationships that are constantly being reformulated between societies, time and knowledge, and provides space and resources for exhibition projects and artistic interventions that critically question the present, past and future on the basis of complex intersectionality.

Keywords: temporalities – class – coping with the present – possible futures – utopias – intersectionality

The institution
The Künstler:innen Vereinigung Tirol (formerly Tiroler Künstler:innenschaft) was founded in 1946 and sees itself as a forum for contemporary art in Tyrol. In addition to representing the interests of visual artists, the Künstler:innen Vereinigung Tirol provides curatorial, organizational and production support for exhibition projects and artistic interventions at the Kunstpavillon and Neue Galerie exhibition venues. The exhibition program, which is largely made up of an open, international call for entries, encompasses all forms of contemporary art.

With these diverse agendas, the Künstler:innen Vereinigung Tirol promotes a high-quality debate on art and society, international discourse and a high-quality exhibition program. The jury will select up to five exhibitions from the submissions for the 2025 annual program.

Exhibition venues
The art pavilion is located just a few minutes’ walk from Innsbruck’s city center, in the so-called “Kleiner Hofgarten”. The house was built in 1842 as the summer house of the provincial governor and was adapted into a skylight gallery in 1950. The room has approx. 175m2.

The Neue Galerie comprises 95m2 of exhibition space and is located on the ground floor of the Hofburg at the entrance to Innsbruck’s old town. The historic vaults were completely renovated in 2011. In contrast to the art pavilion, the rooms can be easily darkened for projections.
