Course work database 2024

The BBK Saxony-Anhalt has been operating the “Visual Arts Database Saxony-Anhalt” since 2017. It publishes catalogs raisonnés and lists of estates of female visual artists with a connection to Saxony-Anhalt. The work database informs the public – including curators and researchers, for example – about the life’s work of individual female artists and reflects the diversity of artistic positions in Saxony-Anhalt in the growing number of directories. At the same time, it is a simple and inexpensive tool for keeping track of the artworks created over the course of a lifetime, making it easier for artists themselves and those working on their behalf to record them. It also fulfills these tasks for heirs or estate administrators.

The fee-based, three-part course “Werkdatenbank Bildende Kunst Sachsen-Anhalt” teaches participants how to use the database on the basis of the scientific and editorial standards of the BBK Sachsen-Anhalt. Under professional guidance, participants create a personal data record, maintain exhibition and literature lists, learn how to use links sensibly and create data records for each individual work of art. Questions about the structure and weighting of the oeuvre will also be discussed.

In fall 2024, the BBK Saxony-Anhalt is offering a new course for heirs and estate administrators. The three-part course, led by art historian Katharina Lorenz, will take place on the following dates at the BBK Sachsen-Anhalt office in Halle (Saale):

  • October 25, 2024, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • November 8, 2024, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The originally planned introductory meeting (2 hours) will take place this year as a preliminary telephone call or Zoom meeting and will be arranged individually.

There are still places available! You can apply to take part in the course until September 30, 2024. You can find the announcement and participation requirements here:
