With the “dare-courageous” short film program, the Arts Foundation aims to support young filmmakers in particular in the production of films. The project to be funded can be fiction, animation and documentary films as well as experimental forms of documentary and fictional film. Funding is available for all genres. In principle, the program supports short films up to a maximum length of 30 minutes.
The Arts Foundation supports the script and project development of short films with a grant of up to 4,500 euros, as well as film production with a grant of 90% of the total costs up to a maximum of 20,000 euros. The presentation at national or international festivals is also supported with up to 2,000 euros. Film productions are also funded by the Arts Foundation with a non-repayable grant, so that it is not possible to include provisions in the financing plan.
Producers and filmmakers who have their first place of residence in Saxony-Anhalt or who refer to Saxony-Anhalt in their project are eligible to apply. This initiative is primarily intended to give young filmmakers in Saxony-Anhalt the opportunity to gain experience in the development and realization of a film project. Supervision of the production by a specialist mentor is obligatory for first-time works and can also be supported with a grant from the Arts Foundation.
Since 2009, the Landeskunststiftung has been organizing Long Short Film Nights once a year to present the results of the wage-mutig programme to the public.
