Photo competition 2025 | What makes us rich?

Photo competition: What makes us rich? The unequal distribution of wealth is increasing worldwide. The top ten percent of the population own around 85 percent of wealth – and the trend is rising. The poorest, on the other hand, collectively own only around one percent of wealth. In Germany, too, the richest are getting richer – here, the total wealth of the five richest Germans grew to around 155 billion US dollars in 2024. How can we bridge the gap between rich and poor? What does wealth actually mean for us humans?

The Lagois Photo Competition 2025 is dedicated to the topic of wealth and the question of how we can achieve social participation and distributive justice. We are looking for photo reportages and portraits of people who are working to reduce the growing gap between rich and poor. We are also looking for works that deal with what wealth can still mean – on a personal, cultural or social level. How are prosperity and happiness, abundance and greed linked to wealth? What other, new forms of wealth should we be looking at?

Application deadline: April 15, 2025
