As the second exhibitor in our BBKarium 2021 series, Isabella Sissis is showing a group of porcelain and ceramics, which was created, among other things, as part of the 2020 “Kultur ans Netz” work grant from the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The tiger, the child, the apple, the halo and the Madonna. What was she like, Maria, the mother? What does she have in common with us women and mothers? And who the hell is Shakti anyway? First there was the mother, she became the Madonna, but where did the tiger come from? So there was already Shakti or Durga, so who was it? In any case, they were riding a tiger. Maria is unclear: what is the tiger doing in her dreams, shouldn’t a dove be floating down from the sky in its place? She looks to the dark side of the Force and tries to find herself.
