In 2000, the year of Nuremberg’s 950th anniversary, Die Blaue Nacht invited the citizens of Nuremberg for the first time to experience art and culture in an unusual setting and at an unusual time. With around 130,000 visitors from Nuremberg, the region, the whole of Germany and abroad, more than 200 program items in over 50 institutions, courtyards, squares and in the streets of the old town, Die Blaue Nacht is an extraordinary show of art and culture.

The Blue Night Art Competition
Since 2005, The Blue Night has offered artists the opportunity to present works from the following areas in courtyards and squares in Nuremberg’s city center for two nights via a competition:
– Visual arts
– Light art
– Audio installations
– Movement / performance
– Interactive / participative actions
– New media
