The Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. (BBK) published new works in its “Werkdatenbank Bildende Kunst Sachsen-Anhalt” at the beginning of February 2025. The focus is on the catalog raisonné of the Magdeburg artist Walter Bischof (1919-1968) and the catalog raisonné of the Halle artist Sabine Kunz (1962). In addition, numerous artists have completed the catalogs they began in recent years, including Helga Borisch (1939) from Magdeburg, Lutz Grumbach (1941) from Halle (Saale), Christina Simon (*1963) from Weißenfels, Steffen Christophel (*1963) from Halle (Saale) and Wolfram Schubert (1926) from Gardelegen. Some of the artists mentioned were supported by art historians or family members in submitting their works. At a press conference at the Forum Gestaltung Magdeburg on February 5, 2025, the participating artists presented a selection of their newly published works in the database in a small pop-up exhibition and briefly introduced themselves and their project. Also present were the head of the “Werkdatenbank course”, freelance art historian Katharina Lorenz M.A., as well as representatives from the BBK board and management. This is the fifth publication round since 2017, which has increased the work database to almost 5,500 works by 36 female artists.
