In 2024/25, Künstlerhof Frohnau (KHF) and the Reinickendorf Department of Art and History will be awarding the Ruckhaberle Prize for the sixth time to commemorate the work of artist, curator and cultural politician Dieter Ruckhaberle. The prize includes an exhibition, a residency and a publication. Previous prizewinners were: Nafis Fatollahzadeh, Uliana Bychenkova & Anna Scherbyna, Surya Gied, Annette Frick, Luiza Prado.
In times of intensified political debates, decreasing tolerance and an increasing shift to the right in society, the Ruckhaberle Prize emphasizes the importance of open spaces for art and discourse for critical reflection on the present. In this context, the prize is aimed at professional visual artists living in Germany who find convincing forms through their work to highlight complex or little-noticed social contexts and thus contribute to a differentiated understanding of our time.
The Ruckhaberle Prize is aimed at visual artists living and working professionally in Germany, regardless of age, origin or artistic medium. The call deliberately sets no media restrictions and is explicitly open to interdisciplinary artistic practices and artist groups. Partners and/or children are welcome during the residency.
Application deadline: July 14, 2024
