The artists’ town of Kalbe, an innovative project in the Altmark (Saxony-Anhalt) with the aim of countering demographic change through art and culture, awards scholarships for a working stay.
In line with Joseph Beuys’ concept of social sculpture, the artists’ town of Kalbe sees itself as a place where the creative power of art can be unleashed to build a free, sustainable society worth living in.
Over four weeks, national and international artists from all disciplines (visual arts, literature, performing arts, music, film, photography, media art, interdisciplinary projects) are invited to participate in such a social sculpture in Kalbe and to contribute their own project ideas.
