The Goethe-Institut is launching a new project fund to promote international cooperation projects in the field of visual arts and thus the global networking of creative artists even more strongly in the future. From March 1, 2021, artists, curators and art mediators from Germany and abroad can apply together with their project ideas for the first application round.
The first application deadline is April 15, 2021. The funding amount is up to 25,000 euros per project. The Goethe-Institut’s new fund supports the development of exhibitions and other projects as well as discursive formats with transnational cooperative working structures in the fields of visual arts, architecture, design and art education as well as interdisciplinary projects. The fund thus complements the International Co-Production Fund, which has been in existence since 2016 and is primarily aimed at transnational cooperation projects in the fields of theater, dance, performance and music.
Professional artists, curators and cultural practitioners can apply for the Visual Arts Project Fund, whereby one of the project partners must live and work outside Germany. In addition to the quality of the project, the application criteria include the expected impact of the artistic or discursive results, the contemporary relevance of the topic, the consideration of ecological and social sustainability and the inclusivity of the project.
In addition, written confirmation from at least one institution (art association, museum, educational institution, etc.) of interest in collaborating with the applicant should be submitted. Projects between partners from Germany and transition countries and the Global South are preferred. The application is in English. The maximum funding amount for individual projects is 25,000 euros. A committee of external experts and representatives of the Goethe-Institut decides on the funding.
Application deadline: October 15, 2024
