Publications work database February 2025

The Berufsverband Bildender Künstler Sachsen-Anhalt e.V. (BBK) published new works in its “Werkdatenbank Bildende Kunst Sachsen-Anhalt” at the beginning of February 2025. The focus is on the estate catalog of Magdeburg artist Walter Bischof (1919-1968) and the catalog raisonné of Halle artist Sabine Kunz (*1962). In addition, numerous artists have completed the catalogs they began in previous years, including Helga Borisch (*1939) from Magdeburg, Lutz Grumbach (*1941) from Halle (Saale), Christina Simon (*1963) from Weißenfels, Steffen Christophel (*1963) from Halle (Saale) and Wolfram Schubert (*1926) from Gardelegen. Some of the artists mentioned were assisted in entering their works by art historians or family members. The basis for entering the data was the “Works Database Course”, which was conducted on behalf of the BBK by freelance art historian Katharina Lorenz. At a press conference at the Forum Gestaltung Magdeburg on February 6, 2025, the participating artists presented a selection of their newly published works in the database in a small pop-up exhibition and briefly introduced themselves and their project. Representatives from the BBK board and management were also present. This is the fifth publication round since 2017, which has increased the database to almost 5,500 works by 36 female artists.
