PACT Zollverein Residences

The year-round residency program for the development of artistic projects and productions, in which artists from all over the world have participated since 2002, is the ‘heartbeat’ of the daily work at PACT Zollverein. In conjunction with the work areas of stage, platform and urban space, a fruitful exchange of theoretical and practical work is created at the Künstlerhaus. A final presentation is not a prerequisite; the focus is on the processual nature of artistic work.

The design of the residency is free: In their own studio, they discuss, develop and rehearse autonomously; if required, the entire infrastructure of PACT (rehearsal rooms, kitchen, WLAN, etc.) is available to the residents at any time.

The online journal of PACT offers artists in residence the opportunity to document their current work processes and projects and make them accessible to the public.

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the residents have also received a residence grant since 2010. Accommodation is provided and travel expenses are covered.

The residencies are selected twice a year based on an open call by an international jury. A residency does not include a public performance at PACT Zollverein.

A residence includes the following services

  • Work studio (between 69 and 173 sqm)
  • Accommodation (max. 4 persons)
  • Period of 3 -6 weeks (at a time)
  • weekly stipend for all artists involved in the project (max. 4 people)
  • Travel costs for the one-off arrival and departure (max. 4 people)*.
  • Provision of technical equipment (subject to agreement and availability)
  • Technical support (subject to agreement and availability)

*In principle, the least environmentally damaging means of transportation should be chosen.

PACT can provide barrier-free and family-friendly residences by arrangement.
