In 2025, the WZB is offering an artist the opportunity of a guest residency for the first time. For a period of two months, the recipient of the artist-in-residence fellowship can pursue their own work in dialog with the researchers. The application deadline is March 31, 2025.
In 2025, an artist-in-residence fellowship will be offered for the first time as a pilot project in memory of the former president of the WZB Meinolf Dierkes, who was committed to transfer and “out of the box” thinking throughout his life. It is intended to enable an artist who regularly deals with political, social or economic issues in his or her own work to spend two months at the WZB. During this time, he or she can pursue his or her own project and take advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers at the WZB and participate in internal and public events. The period of the guest stay is agreed individually.
A scholarship of 2,000 euros per month is offered for the duration of the stay. The WZB will provide the scholarship holder with a workplace. All research resources of the institute library can be used freely. Travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.
The application should include up to three meaningful work samples or project links, a CV and a project outline for the guest stay. The project outline should be at least one page long and should include, among other things, the aim of the stay at the WZB and the connection to the institute or to the work of at least one of the institute’s research units.
The WZB sees the transfer of scientific knowledge to society and the exchange with the public as one of its core tasks. To this end, it cooperates with various partners, including the Berlin University of the Arts and cultural institutions.
