Sabine Brauns

In my exhibition “13“, I am showing works that reflect on the articles of the UN Convention on Human Rights of 1948 and the disregard for them. More precisely, the focus is on Articles 1 and 3. The former recognizes the inviolability of every human being’s dignity. It should be the foundation for ethical behavior and social justice. Article 3 grants the right to freedom and life. Accordingly, people are to be protected in their personal development of life.

In combination, the two articles add up to the number 13. An omen that points to the great misfortune of daily human rights violations worldwide.

I create my works using different media and techniques. It is a combination of textile art, painting and photography in conjunction with my own texts.

The cover picture of my exhibition has been part of a traveling exhibition of Pictures for the Human Rights e.V. from Regensburg since 2021. Under the slogan “30 articles . 30 pictures . 30 artists”, it expresses critical voices within Germany and Europe in an artistic way.
