Work scholarship in New York

The Saxony-Anhalt Art Foundation is once again inviting applications for a working fellowship in New York for the period from November 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. Since 2006, the Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt has been awarding grants to artists and curators for a residency at the renowned International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York. Since 2006, the Art Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt has been awarding grants to artists and curators for a residency at the renowned International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York.

The last New York fellow was Halle-based artist Simon Baumgart. From July to September 2023, he created his installation “Self-portrait in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, walking down a dirty street from July to September (felt) 37°Celsius, rain coming down (but not cooling), burning suns over my head and 1000 planes flying to LaGuardia Airport” in New York. The title says a lot about his stay: a city full of impressions – also meteorologically impressive. Simon Baumgart himself comments on his scholarship in a few words: “New York was hot.”

The Art Foundation bears the costs for the two-month scholarship at the ISCP, the rent for the studio and the apartment for two months as well as travel and international insurance costs. In addition, the artist or curator receives a grant of 1,500 euros per month.

Funding is available for artists working in the visual and applied arts as well as curators who have their main residence in Saxony-Anhalt and can demonstrate professional success. Students cannot apply. The Board of Trustees of the Landeskunststiftung decides on the applications.

Application deadline: February 24, 2025
